Not Forsaking the Assembly Pt. 4: Bringing Your Best to LORD’s Day Worship

Church attendance has become increasingly casual in our modern world, but Scripture calls believers to a much higher standard when gathering on the Lord’s Day. The local church is irreplaceable because Christ Himself is the reason we gather, it provides unique ministry through the means of grace, and God has given special gifts of pastors and elders to watch over our souls. To bring our best to Sunday worship, believers should prepare intentionally, pray for the service and body, attend faithfully and on time, and participate passionately. Additional ways to honor God include submitting to church leadership, loving one another deeply, repenting and forgiving quickly, using spiritual gifts to serve, giving generously, and inviting others to join. Corporate worship serves God’s glory, builds up believers, and reaches the lost when we approach it as meeting with the King rather than just another weekly activity.
